JS in California sent an alarming report about higher annual percentage rates on HSBC credit cards: “I currently have an HSBC credit card with an APR of 12%. I have never made a late payment to them and have always paid 2 or 3 times the minimum amount due. Last week I received a “change of terms” from them, apparently as of 4-10-07 my APR will increase to 27%. HSBC gave no reason, only a telephone number to call for specific reasons as to why they were changing the APR.

SB in Florida says: “I have a second mortgage with Beneficial Finance and have always paid on time. Last June I sent 2 payments that referenced an old account number. Both payments were lost in their system and my account was listed as late. I was unable to get anyone either at the customer service number or the local office to track down these payments totalling $1.320.
PH in Florida simply states: “We are being charged a late fee on a bill that we received the day the bill was due.”

DB in Michigan says: “In Decenber of 2006 we ordered a drum set and cymbles from Giardinelli on line. We were told of the date of delivery and it didnt come. We called them at 18002882334 and was told of another date. Only the drum set came…no cymbles…it noted on the order form as a back order…We constantly called and was told it should be in on the next truck and given another delivery date each time. Needless to say we still haven’t recieved it. Finally we called back to cancel the order.
