PH in New York said: “I just found out that they reduced my credit limit by $2000 dollars without even informing me. I could have been out in a store buying something and would have been mortified when I couldn’t pay for the amount. Thank goodness I looked up my account and saw that I had about $100 left in my credit to be used. I called them up to inquire about it and the rep said, “Oh thank you for calling, we had to re-evaluate our structure due to the economy. You are not the only one this has happened to so don’t take it personally.” I said you better not charge me over the limit fees or anything else because I was not informed of this. The only reason I knew about it was because I looked it up myself. The rep assured me I wouldn’t be charged any of that. We will see. I don’t believe anything they say at this point.”

JP in California said; “I had a Costco credit card from HSBC. We paid our balance in full every month. One month I recieved the statement with a late charge, finance charges, a returned check fee and the balance from the previous month still showing. I contacted HSBC to find out why they were showing all these fees and unpaid balance as I had no notice from my bank about a returned check and I had paid the balance on time and in full. They said my check had been returned. When I asked why, HSBC said they didn’t know.

I immediately called the bank to get the reason as to why my APR was increasing (10.9 to 14.9) I was told by the CSR that she did not have the reason available to her, but she could mail it to me. I wanted this information to make a decision to keep my account open or close it.
