AB in New Jersey reported: “HSBC acquired my 2nd mortgage from Champion about a year ago. To date I have received phone calls almost daily, sometimes more than once per day, telling me they want to do better on my loan. I have declined their offer based on research I have done after realizing legitimate companies don’t need to solicit like they are. At one point I began receiving letters in the mail appearing as though credit reports have been pulled on my husband and I and a loan application had been filed in the amount of $5000. I have been polite but firm in telling these reps to stop calling me and that the calls are harassment. Today’s caller basically acknowledged that they are harassment and pretty much said “so what?” and said it’s not likely the calls will stop inspite of my threats to take whatever action I need to to make them stop.”

A.L. in Florida said: “My biggest problem is that I have several creditors identifying themselves with HSBC and no further identification. I only had one account with Househeld Bank, and have had the harrassing phone calls, offers, etc., but have stopped responding to them. It all started with what I think might be a case of predatory lending with my mortgage at American General Finance.”
