MB in Texas said this about HSBC: “HSBC has to be one of the most ignorant banks I have ever had an account with. I never had a late payment and they reduced my credit balance twice. When I called to cancel, they couldn’t find my account. They told me my account was already canceled..but was looking at an account canceled 8 years ago even thought I gave them the last four digits off of their correspondence.

SA in NEw York said: “HSBC closed my bank account without first notifying me. This follows 6 weeks of me trying to work out a resolution with them regarding my account which was overdrawn. Instead of declining several small ( as low as $16.00) purchases that I made in the same time frame, mistakenly believing I had more than enough money in my account, HSBC paid the amounts and then billed me $39 each, totaling just over $380.00.
SA in New York said: “My account was overdrawn at the beginning of October by $19. HSBC charged my account an overdraft fee of $35. The account was overdrawn on September 30, 2009. I received a notice of the $35 charge ten days later by mail (October 10, 2009).
BH in Colorado said: “Your billing statement leaves a lot to be desired. When I try to check my charge slips to the statement, nothing matches except the amount. I
used to be able to check the numbers on the statement to the charge slips–but not now. I’m going to be like a lot of other customers–when the bill is paid off, I’m closing my account.”
An unhappy HSBC credit card holder sent this report: “Yes, I have had the same thing happen. I had a credit line of unsecured credit of over $10,000.00 “just in case”. I have been paying way more than the minimum and just signed a couple 0% offers and was planning on paying this off.
