CV in New York said: “I have a closed acct with HSBC that I have been paying on each monh on time. I use the on line payment web site. I still do not understand how paying it on the due date results in a late charge. The only way to avoid this is to consider the due date 2 days earlier and keep on top of any holidays otherwise pay a ‘rush payment fee’ before the due date.

MR in Michigan said: “Last month I called Beneficial/HFC to get a payoff balance to close our account. I was giving the amount $3,119.86 good until 6/22/09. I was told I could pay it on-line at no charge or pay it with the rep for an extra $15, so I paid it on-line 6/19/09. This month instead of getting a pay-off notice I get a new bill stating I owe $27.78 and have a minimum payment due of $28.54.

I posted a rush payment on June 26th for $1600 to cover my card use during my June 29th – July 4th vacation with the family at Hershey Park in Pennsylvania. The $1600 payment was removed from my checking account on June 29th yet my $1600 payment did not get credited to my account until July 7th.
