A Mississippi resident said: “I have a HSBC Musician’s Friend account and since I have had the account, many of my payments were posted late that were sent out on time and I was charged late fees, and when I complained they had many excuses from “it went to our other office by mistake” or “we didn’t receive it.”

WH in North Carolina said: “Back during Sept/Oct of 2008, I requested a payoff amount for two of my credit cards under HSBC control. One of the cards was from Guitar Center and the other from Office Max. During the call, I was given two payoff amounts and further given dates for their expiration. I paid the Office Max card off before that date and requested the card to be closed and was told that it was done.
CL in Pennsylvania said: “HSBC is trying to stick me with fines and fees because they claim I did not enter my correct bank account number when I paid them online. This is my first run in with them - they are in charge of my Bon Ton Card. When I asked them for a copy of this “incorrect payment” they put me on hold for an hour and then hung up on me! Plus, they are charging me $45 in fees for this supposed error they refuse to prove!”
FG in California said: “We are going through financial hardship and we’ve tried to talk to several people in the HSBC collections department. HSBC makes it impossible to work with them, and we are willing to pay our ridiculous bill with them but they won’t budge. HSBC wanted to charge us $15.00 for paying over the phone after they have charged us over $2,000 in finance charges.
KA in Texas said: “I signed for a Kawasaki credit card for my son (so he could purchase a bike). It turned out to be HSBC. I have been paying on this card for almost 3 years … and the balance has not gone down. I’m paying around $200 a month. So, I’m figuring that is about how much interest I’m paying. My son wants to sell the bike but the payoff is about the same as the original price. This is just legalized loan sharking… if people just stop making the payment and they go down … they deserve it. Oh yeah, I’ve made all my payments on time and I’ll be making the payments until I die and then someone else will inherit the debt… which will have tripled.”
