DB in Pennsylvania said: “Just received a email today that HSBC has reduced my credit limit from $10,000 to $300 dollars. The reason - “Based on inactivity on your GM Flexible Earnings Card, we have decreased the credit limit on your credit card Account, to $300. Are they out of there mind? Not only are they one of the “big” banks who are to blame for this credit mess, they are clueless on how to treat customers. I can’t wait to see how this affects my credit score. I think it’s high time that the American people rise up against these legalized extortionists.”

KM in Michigan said: “I also was never notified that my HSBC credit card limit was slashed. I had a credit line of $6,600 and it was reduced to $330. I never was late and paid the bill off each month. I was deemed a “credit risk” even though I have NO credit card debt and no car loan payment. I am very concerned what this reduction in my available credit will do to my FICA score. I am in the process of buying a house and as soon as I close, the HSBC credit card will be closed too.”
BM in Pennsylvania said: “I just got the worst phone call from HSBC - claimed they’ve been emailing me bills and I’ve ignored them. I didnt even know I had a balance. Funny thing is that as soon as I went to the site to pay it immediately (after they told me I couldn’t - that I had to WAIT for the next bill), the first thing they forced me to do was confirm I wanted electronic delivery! To set up the bloody account to send the bills via email! NO PAPER BILLS NO ELECTRONIC BILLS NOTHING! So they’ve tacked on late fees and screwed with my credit report - I will never deal with them again! The confirmation emails got through ok so I know the spam filter didnt stop them! Just the ignorant company lying to me.”
VK in Nebraska said: “I used to have a HSBC account, I paid faithfully but it never seem to make any difference, the next thing i know I was over the credit limit and been charged all kinds of fees, I tried to resolve this but they kept adding fees until I could no longer pay the minimum and they refuse to resolve the issue. I think that is usury in the worst possible manner, they ended up destroying my credit and sent me to a collection agency for 3 times the amount I owe them. It is terrible that HSBC gets to do this to people, I think a class action law suit should be filed against them.
MS in California said: “I pay all my bills online but last month I forgot to hit the confirm button. 4 days after the bill was due I get a call from HSBC telling me I’m going to 30 days late in two days and that I need to make next months payment also.
