CR in Washington said: “I recently received a copy of my credit report (Triple Advantage) and noticed an HSBC/RC account that shows the account to still be open. It shows a high balance of $762.00 and a current balance of $0.00. I have no idea what this account was for. I found the phone number for the company on a complaint website about HSBC, as no number was listed on the credit report.

LE in New Jersey said: “I had an HSBC card since 2001. It had been inactive with $0.00 for several years. In 2007-2008 I decided to close-out my lower limit credit cards and subsequently called HSBC customer service to close it out. There was no further communication until I received a bill in 11/2008 for their annual fee. I immediately called customer service (rep in India) and he assured me they would remove the fee and close my account as previously requested.

GR in Alabama said: “HFC/HSBC just reduced my credit line from $15,000.00 with $0.00 balance to $0.00, so I contacted HFC and talked with Peeyush Dutta (employee #: HBI3DT). HFC sent an email with no details other than “HFC has adjusted the credit limit on your loan account.”

JT in Pennsylvania said: “In an attemept to get my credit score up to get better rates I spent a few years trying and succeeding in getting it to rise. Using credit cards but it didn’t go very fast so I thought since the only loan I had was my mortgage that a small personal loan would be a help. I didn’t have derogatorys but had always paid cash so the score was low.

LS in Pennsylvania said: “HSBC just dropped my credit limit by $4,500.00 and I have not had a late payment in 18 months; I have been trying really hard to improve my credit score and now I feel sick to my stomach that my score will drop and I have done nothing wrong.
