DG in Rhode Island said: “I received a letter from HSBC today, informing me that my credit limit was lowered from $13,000 to $2150. I called and asked why. HSB stated the decision was based on my credit report and my account history. However, my Experian credit score is 795 and i’ve never ever been late with a payment in my 5 years of doing business with them. HSBC is so full of it and couldn’t give me a straight answer.”

In addition HSBC sent me a credit card with a 200 dollar limit on which I charged less than 150 dollars. ST in California said: “I received a letter from HSBC and Equifax Credit Services stating that my account with HSBC (ending in 3659) was being reported to Equifax because of a)amount owed on acct; b)delinquency c) relationship of balance to high credit on revolving accts; d) # of accounts of outstanding balances. In essence and in short, this account has a credit on it of $2.20. I have had that credit on the account for months as I paid it off and gave them too much money. They are now reporting this?
CR in Washington said: “I recently received a copy of my credit report (Triple Advantage) and noticed an HSBC/RC account that shows the account to still be open. It shows a high balance of $762.00 and a current balance of $0.00. I have no idea what this account was for. I found the phone number for the company on a complaint website about HSBC, as no number was listed on the credit report.
LE in New Jersey said: “I had an HSBC card since 2001. It had been inactive with $0.00 for several years. In 2007-2008 I decided to close-out my lower limit credit cards and subsequently called HSBC customer service to close it out. There was no further communication until I received a bill in 11/2008 for their annual fee. I immediately called customer service (rep in India) and he assured me they would remove the fee and close my account as previously requested.
