I pay Beneficial Finance a monthly payment of $178. Only $8 every month is being applied to the principle. I need some answers. I think I’m being bamboozled. I know that HSBC is in bed with Beneficial. I’ve been wondering if loan sharking was what the class action lawsuit was about against Beneficial.

My husband obtained a Direct Merchants/HSBC credit card in 1996. The card has NEVER been in default like the rest of our credit. We agreed to HSBC ACCOUNT PROTECTION PLAN PLUS in early 2008. In April of 2009 after 14 years on the same job, my husband lost his job. We contacted HSBC to enforce the account protection plan.

In yesterday’s mail I received notification that my credit limit at Sam Ash had been reduced to 0 because the amount of revolving credit is too large, etc., etc. as reported by one or more of the credit reporting agencies. Never mind that I have a zero balance on the account and that I have always paid the bill. The same thing happened a little over a year ago when my account with Musician’s Friend was cancelled due to lack of use. When I tried to open a new account as instructed by the people at Musician’s Friend I was turned down for the same reason.
