DK in New York said: “February 2/26/08 I settled with an Agency for 50% of the original debt. It was paid on their website. I have a confirmation and a letter confirming the account has been settled. A month later I started receiving calls from another agency for the same Debt.

After explaining the situation and faxing them everything I had I was told it would be taken care of. It never was. I got calls and letters from yet another company. September 2008 my credit report received a mysterious $400 delinquency on my credit report with a different companies name, but HSBC’s phone number. I called the number and they knew nothing about and and suggested I dispute it on my credit report.

I figured it was over at this point. Last week the calls and the letters started again from a new company. Infuriated I cursed out the customer service agent and quickly called the FTC to report this fraudent request. 4 days later I got new letter from a new company attempting to collect on the same debt! This is nuts and needs to stop.”
