WB in Georgia exposed this HSBC claim: “My wife and I have a credit card with HSBC/Orchard Bank, we have not used our cards in a year, but have been making the minimum payments monthly as we should. Come to find out another company has taken money off the card for some type of Credit Keeper program. So with this company just taking every month and us not looking since we were not using the cards, when the yearly fee rolls around our card goes into Over Limit status. I call both Orchard Bank, who then tells me to get in contact with this other company because they are not affiliated. After talking with with a representative, come to find out that they are owned by HSBC which means they are in fact the same company. They are not willing to take the bogus charges off, even though they cannot explain to us who authorized the purchase to begin with. Mind you we have still not stopped sending in our minimum payment but now they are calling and harrassing 7 days a week. What can be done about this?”
Editor’s Note: Contact your state attorney general for starters. Then contact the FTC and others. In fact every person who submits a horror story to Household – HSBC Watch should contact their state attorney general as a bare minimum.
