JS in Maryland said: “The saga ends with the Financial Regulation Office finding HSBC did not violate any laws. The big guys won. Does that surprize anyone? Foreclosure is on January 9th, and there is no way HSBC will get come out even or ahead. If they sell the house and get less than what the mortgage is they will come to us for the difference, however, they can’t get blood from a stone. Our only source of income is our social security.”
Editor’s Note: For those of you that have followed this story and continuing updates this might be the last. There were so many reports that many people followed this with personal interest. In a way it feels like we all lost this fight. Our deepest sympathies go out to the family. They fought the good fight, but there is no closure until the 9th. Hope springs eternal, and people always hope for the best, even in the face of adversity. (This saying is from “An Essay on Man,” by Alexander Pope.) We should point out that subprime effected over 30 percent of homeowners 55 and older.
