BD in Colorado said: “Had an HSBC Orchard Bank account for two years. I called to close it last December because I no longer needed it. Balance was about $400. I mailed payments in but HSBC claimed my payments didn’t get there in time and charged late and over limit fees every month even though the account was supposed to be in collection. I have never heard of an account that went to collection that kept incurring late and over limit charges to the amount of $80 a month. I feel this is in violation of some fair credit law and am filing a report with my states attorney general [Colorado.] I would like to hear from others and if this is a widespread practice would like to start a class action suit against HSBC. Any interested attorneys may contact me directly via email.”
