PS in California said: “My credit card limit is $300. I used my card for a $20 purchase, which because of the $13.76 finance charge went overlimit. I called to make a phone payment being told what I was paying was ok, not letting me know I was over limit, I would have paid the $3 causing the overlimit. The reason to pay over phone was to avoid a late charge of $35. I was charged $15 for that phone payment. So why didn’t they post it? They gave me a confirmation number, however according to my bank statement, HBSC didn’t take funds till 6 days later, which then made me late.
HSBC says its my banks fault, the bank didn’t clear, what the hell, they didn’t submit it until 6 days later, thats not my banks deal. They screwed up, not me. I called and paid on time, however they didn’t take it, until 6 days later. that was 3 months ago. I have not used my card AT ALL, and somehow my balance is $600. This month i have a late fee of $35 from last month’s phone payment, the $13.76 finance charge, $35 over limit fee, $15 phone payment fee. Every time I call, my questions are not answered, and I get more frustrated than ever. I am trying to build my credit, and they take advantage of people like me.
It doesn’t matter what the situation is, I signed the agreement, therefore I asked for all these charges that are in between the lines. It’s so dang frustrating around the holidays being on medical leave too. They don’t care, it doesn’t matter who you talk to, its wasting time, energy. In February when I receive my income tax return, I am going to completly pay it off, and tear the card. I cannot pay enough to get it under the limit, it keeps going up. Current payment is $300, I can’t do it. So next month it will go up again $85. Is that taking advantage of the consumer or what?
Oh ya, it truly is my own fault. I signed the agreement. However this is all b/c of being $3, over the limit. Does anyome have any suggestions? HSBC says the only thing I can do is pay the $300 to get current. May be I can try to pay online $20 each week, or will they charge me $15 each time?”
