HSBC Australia Shuts Out Customer
RE reports on HSBC Australia: ” I recently missed 2 letters from HSBC demanding I pay cash into my account to service my overdraft of 1,100 pounds. I never received the first letter and once I saw the second letter I immediately paid 399 pounds into the account. In the meantime, I received another letter threatening all sorts of retribution (debt collection etc) if I didn’t pay immediately. When I contacted the bank I failed the security question despite offering to send a scan of the information given off the card and my passport. The consequence is that I am now desperate to pay off HSBC to remaining balance and sever all links with this bank after 20 years as a customer. However, nobody at HSBC will talk to me because of the failed security check. I have spent over 2.5 hours on the phone to various call centres and now am losing my mind trying to find someone who will advise me on the exact balance. My actual branch in Jersey promised to call but failed to do so and I keep getting shunted from call centre to call centre.”
