HSBC Foreclosure: How foreclosure prevention does not work

HSBC Foreclosure: How foreclosure prevention does not work

ST in Illinois said: “A family of five is about to lose their home - three children under the age of 10 plus a Disabled Veteran! We began in January 2007 to let HSBC know that we needed to refinance our mortgage. By the time my husband was no longer able to work, we called the Hardship Department. Further, before our subprime mortage had an ARM reset, we spoke with the ARM Reset Department. All along, I told them that by July 2008, I would no longer have any cash reserves to cover the mortgage.

I depleted my bonuses, my inheritances, and our entire savings account. But, they can’t talk to you as long as you are current with your payment. Needless to say, we are no longer current, and my credit score is trashed. At the same time, we are working through the Social Security Disability system. Without my husband working, we can not make the mortgage - especially since the ARM reset. But, HSBC says we make too much money. I asked if they could feed and clothe a family of five on $200 a week, and they said they could. Most importantly, they told me to contact my Congressman and that they “would pray for me”.

Although I most sincerely appreciate their prayers, what are they doing now or today to help middle class families? My eight year old son does not want to move. My daughter, with a severe metabolic disorder, does not want to move. My disabled husband is looking at a year before a Social Security Disability case in front of a judge. I work every day only to lose my home. Thanks HSBC…my prayers are with you because obviously you do not care about me. The news talks about Wall Street and Main Street - somehow my simple family gets lost the rhetoric.”
