Massachusetts Resident Says HSBC Is Like Providian

Massachusetts Resident Says HSBC Is Like Providian

JR in Massachusetts  says:  “I opened a BestBuy Credit card account in MA six months ago, credit limit was $400, average balance in my account has been under $300. I always send due payments on time as soon as I receive the bill, which is usually two weeks prior to the due date. I noticed a late fee of $39.00 in my last invoice, even though I sent my payment two weeks in advance. When I called to inquire they argue my payment was late. It seems they are doing the same as Providian did a few years back, which is to intentionally hold on received payments so they can charge the late fees. They refused to do anything about it and when I requested to speak to a supervisor they put me on hold for 45 mins until I finally gave up. Please advise, I will probably pay the whole balance and close the account but I heard that opening and closing an account too soon may damage your credit, I just want to put these practices out in the open for the public to know.”

  1. This toll free number calls several times a day wanting money. My husband is disabled with arthritis and we have insurance we paid for to make the payments on our credit cards if he became sick or out of work. What kind of scams are they running here. The phone ringing all hours of the morning and night until you can’t get any rest. We told them we have no money or we would send it. Now they are saying they are not associated with these people? So how do they obtain your personal information? I will be making a call to the consumer affiars at the Ohio Attorney Generals office to see what they think. That is all I have to say on the subject. It is hard enough to have nothing after working hard all your life to get what you got to loose it then have these people calling day and night. I am in college retraining to get a job in this forgotten end of the county and I won’t be harrassed. PAtricia Jones

  2. If you see the 1-800-395-2274 on your caller ID let it ring. Then see if when you pick your phone up it doesn’t start dialing there number back. HUmmmmmmmm
