Alabama Layoff Earns HSBC Phone Calls
KQ in Alabama says: “HSBC is calling me over and over. I sent them a letter stating that my husband was laid off unexpectedly. I asked that they reduce my payment or not add fees that I would pay my bill. I just needed some extra time. Of course my letter was ignored and my phone is ringing at all hours. I had 4 calls today so far and it is just 5:00 now. I mailed a payment to them today we I got paid.”
Editor’s Note: HSBC Finance and HSBC USA have hardship provisions, but you can bet they will pad this account and add as much as possible before discussing hardship options. Plan on denial of hardship at least once unless foreclosure is immediate. All fees and interest - which adds up daily - will be added to the back end of the loan.
