HSBC tax loan causes credit problems

KR in Ohio said: “My son (4 yrs. in USAF) has been denied credit and rental units because of a bad credit report showing $491 due to HSBC/Tax….he doesn’t know what this is or how to get in touch with anyone in order to have it taken care of. Can you help? It is called an “Unsecured Loan” and does give an account number. It was supposedly opened in 4/06 and closed in 7/06.”
