OCC helps South Dakota customer with HSBC problems
TB in South Dakota said: “HSBC ripped me off two years ago. I paid the account in full four months before the terms ended, I even called them before I made the payment to verify the payoff amount. Several months later HSBC started harrassing me saying that I owed them several thousand dollars. They could never prove where or how I owed them. They tanked my credit score by about 220 points. Fortunately every lender out there knows how shady HSBC is so I had no trouble getting any loans or anything like that. I got my issue resolved by going through the OFFICE of the COMPTROLLER OF CURRENCY.
It really helps to get a US Senator or Rep to help you with this. Be aware that HSBC will stop at nothing to get your money, even with the federal government involved they still continued illegal accounting and collection practices. The government assured me that they will be fined for their actions. After I got a hold of the OCC it took a few months to get it resolved but I won. The worst part of my situation is that I knew of HSBC before I made the purchase, but when I filled out the zero percent loan, I had no idea that it would be through HSBC.
I make it a point when I am at stores like Best Buy, Denver Furniture, etc that I tell them how crooked HSBC is and that I can prove it, hopefully they will drop them and use another lender. Remember everyone –COMPTROLLER OF THE CURRENCY is the federal agency that oversees HSBC, no one state or local has any authority over them.”
