I have different accounts with Household companies since 1999 and up until maybe a year and a half ago. At that time I began having problems every single time I called Customer Service. Nothing was ever noted in my account when ever it was said to be, harassing phone calls through out the day, calling my work even after they were told not to, and given such horrible treatment. In August of 2007 I began to have financial problems and kept in contact with all my creditors when ever I was going to have problems making a payment or would be late making one.

On one occasion I had called Household regarding my credit card account, explained the situation, and was given an extra 2 weeks to make my payment or I’d be charged a late fee. Fair enough. The second to the last day of the month I began receiving calls right at 8am. I was unable to answer all but one call due to being in meetings until about 10am. This man badgered me with questions on when I’d be making payments and how. I informed him that I was given till the end of the month to make a payment and couldn’t do so until then since that’s when I would be paid.

As if I was an idiot he then informed me “that was tomorrow”. No duh, Einstein! Still he kept asking me when? When? When?… Very much pissed at this point I asked him what was noted in my account and he refused to tell me. I demanded he read to me what was noted and he still wouldn’t tell me because that was “for Households records and usage”. This went back and forth for a minute and he never would tell me. Eventually he said “Ma’am I’m not going to argue with you about this” at which point I said “ok. bye!”

I was fortunate to have worked with a woman in a Beneficial office who had a pulse and she helped me out when my problems started. Other than her I can’t say the same about anyone else in the company. Several times I gave written requests as instructed that I wanted all those junk fees they tack on to their loans removed, but they always came back. On a Saturday they literally called me 12 times in 10 minutes.

I lost it and asked a Supervisor if he would like me to call his home in the same way and when he started to discuss something else I’d cut him off and demand an answer. I received phone calls like this about 3 other times. I eventually ended up having to do a debt management program and beneficial had basically called me a liar because they didn’t have my paperwork for this. Obviously the fact that he could barely speak English made it hard to understand what I just said minutes ago about just enrolling in my debt program the day before.

Because they hadn’t received anything he told me I wasn’t enrolled in any such program, basically calling me a liar. Wanted or not I rattled off my debt program info they would need if they were running a legitimate company and hung up.

The best part of this all has to be my car loan. Unfortunately I had refinanced my car for a rate of 5% less than my other loan and THEN came across this website. I was mortified when I began finding more and more stuff out, but it was too late. Just this past December I became unemployed making the financial problems I was already dealing with even worse. Once again, being the responsible adult I am I called to inform HSBC Auto that there was going to be a strong possibility of payment problems and to see what kind of help they could offer me.

They offered ZILCH, ZERO, NOTHING. Because my loan was only 5 they would do nothing in terms of offering help and was told to “Call back when I have money”. I was floored by that response and even more so when told the same thing by a Supervisor. I asked about deferring payments, NO. Anything for hardship, NO. Sarcastically I said, ok fine, but make sure you note that in my account so that when you guys start harassing me with phone calls for non payment whoever’s calling will know why I haven’t called with a payment” and hung up.

I was unemployed for 2 months with not one ounce of incoming funds. I had to borrow from my boyfriend and family and both helping me pay my rent and debt program payment. I would call HSBC back about every other week to let them know about the continuing money problems and still they gave me no help. One woman called and attempted to force me to make a payment with money I didn’t have. Fed up with her attitude and demands I asked for her Supervisor. She kept asking why I wanted to talk to them and I repeated again and again that I was no longer going to discuss my account with her and to transfer me. Instead of transferring me she hung up on me. Real nice, lady. Thanks.

I attempted to call back shortly after but after 10 minutes of waiting for the next person I hung up. Shortly after someone else called and I told them I would be able to do a payment until the following week with my first paycheck. Having no income for 2 month made my first paycheck seem microscopic even though I had a great salary. I attempted several times to call and let them know I would need to wait for another paycheck to have enough money, but of course perma-hold was all I got.

FINALLY just this past Friday talked to someone, gave them my update, and asked about there being a problem and told no. I should have known better. Last night the jerks had my car taken away disregarding the fact that in 2 more days I’d be making my payment. Of course these fine people show up to take my car and when I told them there’s a mistake they said I could call them. Hmmmm, how convenient how these people show up later in the evening when HSBC’s offices are closed so you can get things straightened out.

They had no respect for my car as they caused the front bumper to grind against the concrete parking block. I became completely embarrassed having to clean out my car and having it towed a way. As if this situation wasn’t bad enough, I will now have to drive about 2 hours to Casa Grande to get my car back. Couldn’t pick a closer place now could you HSBC?

I now have to take today off so I can call these jerks. Of course they did call this morning and when I pick up I’m not at all surprised when I have to say hello over and over again because no one has picked up my line yet. I am going to start filing complaint reports to whomever I can about the company in general. How they’re allowed to continue doing business this way and allowed cause the problems they do which could possible lead to other problems is absolutely unacceptable.

Any tips or directions that can be given would be so very appreciated. Never again will I have anything to do with a company who has ties to this heartless, guiltless, thieving company.
