Deadly brain tumor? HSBC hits patient with unfair charges anyway!
BL in Lousianna pointed us to an article on The Consumerist website, (opens in a new window) which is his story. BL (Brian) is suffering from an inoperable malignant brain tumor that may kill him in a matter of months. HSBC still wants $35 from him.
Brian’s complaint is about HSBC Finance, formerly predatory lender Household International, and is a United States complaint about HSBC.
While investigating the validity of the submission we discovered addtional information about UK banks and their efforts to avoid refunding customers’ unfair bank charges. Although initially unrelated to Brian’s case, and not about HSBC, we were shocked by a training manual of sorts. High Street giant Lloyds TSB, which has been accused of overcharging customers £300 million a year, has issued staff with guidelines on how to deal with complaints. Please check out this article from the Daily Mail. (also opens in a new window)
