I read the most recent posting and want to agree whole heartedly. Not only is HSBC charging outrageous rates and fees, but they are treating their employees with no dignity. I too am now with a REAL lender, and charging normal rates, and since I have been in the REAL WORLD outside of HSBC, I realize the poor way in which HSBC treats its customers and employees. Now getting let go was the best thing that ever happened, because it opened my eyes to the REAL WORLD of lending, but the way in which I was treated was very unprofessional, and with no respect for me or my family.

I was a District Sales Manager (executive level position) that was let go, and instead of paying severance, HSBC said I violated policy. I asked what policy, and they asked me to go into a room with a pen & paper and write down anything I ever did wrong in my 10 years with the company. Never in my ten years was I ever given a warning for doing anything wrong. When I truthfuly stated I had NEVER violated company policy, they then said they dont believe me, I asked for proof, they said you dont need proof in Virginia. Virginia is an “at-will state” which means you can be let go for any reason, and as long as you were not legally discriminated, you are out of luck. This was a vicious tactic to save some money.

I have moved 4 times, away from family and friends for the company, and in return they put me, my wife and 2 kids out with no income. I want everyone to know that this could happen, and they only care about the bottom line. They pretend to care about employees, but I know better. I was involved in decisions that effected people’s careers, and I know they put no thought of the employee into decisions. If you work for HSBC, you are only a number and nothing more. Get out while you still can, and realize there is a better world out there, and it does not involve ripping people off.
