Ohio resident claims new scam by HSBC Finance Corp
FH in Ohio reports what they call a new HSBC scam: “I have been dealing with HSBC for several months now because of their new scam !!!!!! I was late on a payment several months ago. A payment I thought I mailed in enough time. My loan was defaulted that one month. I had a default balance with a higher interest rate. I have no problem with any of this so far but, here is my problem now. I have, since then, been sending my regular payment plus extra money as well to get my loan down of course. I seem to call HSBC every month to ask why are you not taking my over payment out and posting it to my balence with the higher interest rate even with a letter enclosed to do so.
Its just a few dollars to me but if they are doing this across the country it means major dollars for them !!!!
Example: My current bill has a overdue amount of just $5 from last month. My monthy payment is $140 .. I mailed them a payment of $200 with another letter inside saying to post $5 to my overdue balence. They only posted $1 to that account and now I still owe $4.10 .
Like I said, its a small amount to me but, its been going on this way for about 7 months atleast with a slightly higher balence.
