Michigan customer says HSBC compares poorly to other cards
DB in Michigan says: “HSBC will notify me by email to let me know when my payment is due. The email alert will say please click here to pay bill online I will do so, and never has it let me make a online payment. I also would pay very close attention to when you receive your statement by mail with them, I received my bill on 11-8-07 and the due date for this bill is 11-23-07. Normally you have about a 24-26 days before your next payment is due, however that would only be with a credit card company with a good strong back ground unlike HSBC. I would never allow this company to serve me in the future. Horrible customer satisfaction rating. They want you to pay your bill late so they can add up those late fees. This is the only card/bill I cannot pay on line. THAT SHOULD TELL YOU SOMETHING!”

Never had a problem with Elder Beerman until their stores were swallowed up by HSBC chain. Then, I was the victim of identity theft not once but twice. The theft took place in another state at another store in the HSBC chain. Although I submitted a sworn statement that I was never even in the state in question, they continued to send me invoices saying that everything was in order for the transaction. After much frustration, I paid it off and cancelled my card. Now, I tell all my friends (on and off line) to avoid HSBC stores because they do not protect their clients from identity theft and when it inevitably occurs, they ignore it and tell clients that they must pay the bills. I’ve NEVER had that happen with any other store chain or card.
