PP in Alabama sends this short report: “My account should have been closed in 2001 but it’s still showing on on the credit report as inactive, not closed.”

Editor’s Note: HSBC Finance, which is the old Household International group, reports to all theree credit reporting agencies in a slightly different manner. Customers report that accounts may be interpreted as three different accounts. Thus a $3000 credit limit may look like $9000 in available credit. This matter may reduce your credit rating with mortgage brokers, and can cause a higher interest rate when buying a car. Monitor HSBC closely.
