They want you to make a payment over the phone which will cost you an extra $20.00. I mailed my check out on the first of November and they called me on the 13th of November to say that they did not receive a payment and if they don’t get a payment by the 16th I will have to pay a late fee of $79.00. Can they do that and get away with it?
That is robbery.”

The system program will not accept this account number. So, I have also tried to make payment under the new account number, which I was told should cover both since they were merged, however, the system will not accept this account number either. Now my payment will be late and I will probably be charged a late fee. I also don’t understand why when a phone payment is made, a $15.00 charge is added to the account. I tried making payment by phone, but I don’t feel I should have to pay an additional $15.00 for this service.”

I mailed the payment in full 9 days before due date first class mail going from the central U.S. to the west coast in City of Industry, CA. This normally takes between 2 and 3 business days. Funny enough, my payment is not processed until after the due date and I am charged a huge interest penalty and late fee.
Is HSBC really processing the mail 7 days a week like they say or does it just sit in huge collection bins and they get around to it when they can. I called to cancel the account after the full payment and the CSR from India, of course, said he would. Of course it has not been closed. Since then, I have been getting accrued interest and have refused to pay it. I contacted management from the company and explained and they offered me an 80% off balance “deal”. That’s like admitting fault. There is no fault or wrongdoing on my part. Just slow processing and a scam on theirs.”
