KS in Massachusetts said: “Had $52 remaining on a store card. On the website, that was the balance shown. Didn’t bother opening a statement because I was going to call and pay-off the balance. The statement mentioned (found out later) that my zero% APR offered on April 14, and interest of $159 will be charged after that.
Didn’t know about this because did not open the statement. Called HSBC on April 18 to pay. Asked rep what my balance is, and got $52 as the answer. He did not mention or failed to notice that I now owed the interest also.
I asked him again after the $52 payment if my account was now fully paid. Got an affirmative answer. Then I asked the rep to close my account, and he did. Once the account was closed, didn’t open any letters from HSBC thinking they were offer letters for credit cards.
Found out they reported me to credit agencies. Called HSBC to pay all pending amount, and see if they’d admit their mistake and reverse the adverse reporting to credit agencies. Rude rep, with the IQ and vocabulary of a 5th grader, and very impolite.
Will appreciate suggestions on what I should/could do.”
