DR in Iowa said : “Quoted from 9/13/09 news article: “And more than 45 percent of mortgages ? $31 billion ? have been modified.” WHAT? Please ask HSBC what percentage of those modifications are permanent interest rate reductions. I have knowledge of ONE person out of hundreds I have spoken to who has actually received a permanent rate reduction in response to a request for a mortgage loan modification from HSBC. This 45% must include HSBC’s famous “$100 discount for six months only” modification. I’ll eat this computer if they even have a 5% permanent modification rate.”
