Debbie in Missouri said: “I financed my car with HSBC in 2007. In April of 2008 I was a approved to refinance through my bank at a MUCH lower rate, however the loan was not able to be processed because the car title did not list HSBC as the lien holder.
Despite over 6 months of effort, HSBC would never provide documentation showing they were the lien holder for my car loan and I had to let the new lower rate loan go.
August 2009, tired of paying the high HSBC interest rate on the same car loan, I again and was approved for a lower rate car loan through my bank. Prior to applying I had HSBC send a copy of the contract showing they are lien holder. (This is the only thing they would send.)
Today I received a call from my bank– the loan cannot be processed because HSBC is not on the title as the lien holder. HSBC claims the title has not been perfected because I had not returned a POA form sent in Dec 2008. (Never got it)
IF the POA had been sent and not returned 9 months ago why have they not contacted me or sent another form? Because HSBC is trying to hide its mistake! (The only contact I ever have form HSBC is to inform my payment is due. )
Two loan officers at my bank are working with me in this matter and have even done three-way calls to try and resolve the matter, but here is still a lot of run around and transfers and I can’t help, etc on the part of HSBC.
Today I was given the number of the (only) person who could view my account. (She told me about the POA). She also claimed the POA could be overnighted so the title could be perfected and my new loan processed (of course I have to wait while the title is processed and make a couple more payment s to HSBC).
When I call to check on this I get a voice mail. (No surprise there).
The entire experience w/ HSBC has been a nightmare!”
