DL in Georgia said: “TO HFC:
We do not know how to proceed at this time. We received yet another denial from HFC for hardship relief and a demand for over $6,000.00 to bring our account current that we simply do not have. We could make $1,000.00 per month payments until our account is current. There is no real way to contact HFC as there is no email for customer service.
We were able to get through by phone exactly once to a live person in June when we were told we had a modification once last year and we could not modify again. (That modification was never reflected on our statements and continued to show we were running two months behind on our payments). We were told an attorney would contact us because we were going to be foreclosed. Shortly thereafter we received a letter from HFC requesting documents for hardship assistance that we sent immediately.
We were subsequently denied any assistance (yet again) even though our primary mortgage payments have been increased from $1100.00 per month to $1600.00 per month and even though our income has been reduced by more than ½ creating an incredible hardship.
Wife is still unemployed and Husband is still under-employed. We cannot sell the house-the market is at a stand still in our area. In fact, our house was recently appraised at $197,00.00 – devalued by almost $100,000.00 less than the year before. HFC will not recoup the loan we owe if we are in fact foreclosed.
We request that you tell us in writing what we can do, if at all, as we are so many months behind to get caught up with our loan. Also, we would like to know what happen to the large payment we made in February/March 2009.”
