BM in California said: “I paid the balance of my Gottschalks Credit Card in April 2009. I had not received a statement until I received a call from HSBC in June. I was told I owed $111.79 in late fees. Evidently in April after my statement was sent out there was an additional charge for a purchase added ($49.23).

I was told, if I would pay $85.01, my account would be paid in full. HSBC agreed to waive $26.78 in late fees plus the additional late fees that they would be charging if I didn’t pay that day. I agreed to do a check by phone with the understanding that this would absolutely close out my account.

I was very upset and made sure I would never have to deal with them again. I received a call August 27th telling me I owe $120.12 in late fees. I have not received one statement since April.”
