KD in Texas said: “After divorcing in 1999 I inherited the debt on a Household Bank cc. In 2004 I reached a settlement with Household and paid the agreed amount within the time set forth by the letter of agreement. I received a statement showing the cashiers check had been posted to my account.
I believed the account was closed and satisfied. Not so fast.
Household bank continued to charge me late fees and overlimit fees. I contacted them relentlessly to try to rectify the situation.
They charged off my account and reported it to the Big 3 as such, showing I had never paid! To this day (yesterday actually) I continue to be contacted by different collection agencies trying to collect on this debt. I fax them the proof of my payment and they go away for a year, until somone else buys the account and I have to fax them the proof.
Every time this happens I contact HSBC. Most recently I spoke with Patsy Nolastnamegiven in Las Vegas. She was very rude and hostile. I explained the situation yet again and she was unsympathetic to say the least.
I faxed her the information twice and she claimed she did not receive it or only received 3 of 4 pages etc. Then she wanted my bank statement from 5 years ago showing the transaction blah blah blah blah. I’m at a loss for what to do now.”
