In Dec. 2008, I purchased a laptop from Best Buy (BB) using my BB card and always pay much more than the minimum payment required on this 18 month no-interest promotion. I have noticed “debt cancellation” fee charges when I started paying on line and with time, I realized that those charges are like “interest” on what is supposed to be an “interest-free” promotion.
I called Best Buy on 8/22 and was referred to HSBC, where this Indian woman gave me the run-around for 10 minutes. I wanted to cancel this monthly charge since I plan to pay off my purchase earlier than July 6, 2010 when the promotion expires. Each monthly charge takes away from my payment. The minimum payment is 17.00 and I have been sending between 75.00- 100.00. I estimate that, HSBC has probably charged me over 150.00 since Dec. 2008.
WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO STOP THIS SCAM?
Thank you for your time.”
