JB in Ohio said: “I started Account Secure when I had taken credit on my credit card in case I got laid off from my job, became disabled, or died so that my payments would be paid. I have been charged a fee/dollar that I owe on my credit card sometimes in an amount over $50.00 because I have been allowed a large credit amount.

I have never been late on my payments or anything of the sort. I became disabled in March of 2009 and nothing ever happened until May and by this time I had already returned to work. Then the nightmare of finding out that I had been paying for this insurance for 5 years and was not getting what I thought I was paying for.

Account Secure informed me once only after I threatened them with a lawyer that I was paying for them to basically inactivate my account so I could not use my credit card and couldn’t keep my account up to date or even see what my account was doing online and when I called HSBC about the problem, they said that their hands were tied also and that they could only refer me back to Account Secure.

I just got off the phone to HSBC rep and she told me that the account is deactivated and that my account will be hostage until my next billing cycle which is August 19, 2009. Account Secure has been telling me since May 17, 2009 that my account wasn’t deactivated but that they would take care of it and it would take anywheres from 24 to 48 hours to remove the freeze on my account.

I have called numerous times to HSBC and Account Secure trying to clear up the problem to no avail. If they are not going to hold up their end of the contract that I have agreed to, I would very much like all of the fees that I have paid in the last 5 years, every month to them, refunded.

I have disability insurance on my other credit cards, so this kind of insurance was not new to me and I was only offered this insurance through HSBC at the same terms as my other credit cards.

To call this a disability insurance alone is a fraud. It has nothing to do with helping me out when I am disabled or die. If I was told this from the beginning when I signed up for the insurance, I would of included the credit card to another insurance company that I have my other credit cards with and that paid my payments in a timely manner.

Please advise me on how to further with my problem.”
