RG in Georgia said: “I’ve recently found out that HSBC is the company that the Guitar Center Credit Card is issued through . My credit score is over 800 . Good right ? My application for the card was declined !

I reached the HSBC “customer service” department today for an explanation , but was told they couldn’t discuss the matter over the phone . The lady assured me that a written explanation had been mailed to me .

This was a humiliating experience . The sales guy was nice enough , but when he questioned the manager as to why ( at my request ) I was turned down , the guy looked at me and shrugged his shoulders .

My knee-jerk reaction was to dig my Visa out ( the only card I have , which incidentally I don’t owe a penny on ) and make the purchase anyway to save face . I hindsight I’m glad I didn’t . Screw you HSBC .”
