LM in California said: “I just wanted to let you know how very upset we have been for over a year with the phone calls received from HFC. My husband had a heart attack in October 2007 and we had to ask for help. It has been the worst of times. In August 2008 my husband was wrongfully terminated from his job. This is when the calling became unbearable. We asked for help again.
We had the callers from HFC tell us we had better call all our family, friends and get whatever we could from our 401k plan, and pay our past due amount. We told them we were looking for a permananet solution and were told to contact HUD, ACORN, Hope for Homeowners which we did. We got no help from any of them.
The calls were non stop till May of this year. If the phone rang on Saturday or Sunday at 8:00am we knew who it was. My husband has been on the phone for over thirty minutes with them telling us what we had better do. I finally had enough and wrote a letter to HSBC Headquarters and told them how we felt.
We just received a interest reduction to 3.1% and the calls have stopped. We wanted a loan reduction, but heard they didn’t get government money and can not lower the principal.
We are afraid my husband may not find work and be forced to retire. He is 60 1/2. He has applied for at least 100 jobs with nothing. He has 35 years experience as an industrial electrician. From shipyards to manufacturing plants and nothing.
Even though HSBC/HFC lowered our interest we may still lose our home. You have to be relentless with HFC and their people are so nasty and mean.”
