HG in California said: “You have to be very careful when dealing with HSBC. They are obviously there to make money and use a variety of deceitful methods to drain you of your money. I am sure most people are unaware that they being wrongfully charged when it happens. I just happened to notice errors when I carefully combed through a statement. HSBC was extremely unhelpful when I enquired about these mistakes.
Every time I spoke with someone at HSBC they would say pawn me off on someone else, like a game to wear you down and make you give up. This made me even more determined. I managed to dig up previous statements and through much persistance have managed to have the charges reversed.
The bottom line is it was their mistake and I had to waste a lot of time and effort to get it rectified. The absurd thing was that one of the employees at HSBC said that I wasn`t the only one that this mistake happened to. I asked if they had contacted these people to let them know that mistakes had been made and his reply was no, and implied that it was up to the individual customer to notify HSBC of any mistakes.
Parting advice: always comb through your statements carefully because you can expect mistakes. HSBC is never acting in your best interest; blatently deceiving customers seems to be part of the gameplan to higher profits.”
