DS told us this in a recent email: “I have been paying extra every week on my equity mortgage to find that Beneficial is applying this extra money towards future monthly payments instead of applying it to my principal as most legitimate lenders do.

I have been told over the last 2 weeks by several representatives that there is a request in to re-apply the extra monies and that I have to call every week and speak to a representative and make sure that these extra payments are applied to my principal.

I called today to check status and now am told that there was never a request initiated to re-apply my extra payments.

Beneficial and HSBC has done nothing but lie to me, keep me on hold for hours using my cell phone minutes and cause undue stress in my life. Where is the customer service? I am doing my part in paying my bill and extra to boot but keep getting the run around. Stay away from these loan sharks, I will never deal with these people again.”
