TW in Texas said: “I went to Doha, Qatar a few weeks ago on business. I stayed two nights in a hotel there. They screwed up the reservations and thought I was coming in a day early and would be there for 3 days. They immediately charged me for 3 days plus I get foreign transaction fees on each of those charges.

When I didn’t show up until the next day, I asked them about charging my GM Flex Card and they said that they had put that amount on there but that they wouldn’t charge me for that day since it was their mistake. They only ended up charging me for the 2 days.

Well, I got home and take a look at the charges on my card and there’s a separate charge for $208 plus the transaction fee.

So I called the hotel and told them about it. They told me that they recinded it and only charged me for the 2 days. I tried to call GM Flex and got disconnected twice and I tried emailing them back at the address they emailed me from and it always bounces back. I put a dispute in and I faxed them the hotel bill and a copy of the extra charge on my account and that they need to take care of it but never got a phone call back.

I got an email back later from GM saying there wasn’t sufficient information to take it off and if I didn’t respond in 10 days, they would consider it a closed matter. So I have to keep disputing it to keep it open.

I’ve faxed, emailed, and called the hotel telling them about the charge. I have scanned copies of the emails that I’ve sent to the hotel to HSBC so they know that I’m trying to get it taken off. No response. The hotel keeps saying they recinded it and that they would send me an email yesterday 6-29-09. No email. I don’t know what else to do.

This isn’t my charge. HSBC is not taking it off. I wrote them a letter and faxed it yesterday saying that as soon as I pay this card off minus the $208, I’m cancelling my card and telling everyone not to use GM Flex Card or HSBC because they are horrible.

I had forgotten that this was Household Bank. They were horrible too, years ago. I wanted the GM Card so I could get points for a car which I did end up using and it worked out fine surprisingly.

Can I write to someone else higher up in the company to get this taken care of?”
