RS in Illinois said: “I’ve been having problems with HSBC and Musician’s Friend since last December. In August 2008, I bought a PA package from MF using my card there. It was 12 months no payments, no interest. I made sure to clarify this with a couple sales people. I also began documenting every time I dealt with MF or HSBC on my blog at myspace.com/viciousbliss
I get my PA and find out that MF gave me the wrong extended warranty. I call and have them replace it while still retaining the promotion. I confirm with the customer service agent that it’s all good. They say it is. In December HSBC starts trying to collect. I dispute. About two months later I get a snail mail letter saying everything is ok. But they are still trying to collect payments when they shouldn’t. A couple months after that, they start trying to collect on the other items, so, this wasn’t a case of MF not applying the promotion to the replacement warranty product.
I proceed to try and sort this out with both MF and HSBC. Again, my results are all documented on my blog. The last time I talked to both, they both put in disputes and told me it was ok. April at MF advised me to ignore bills(HSBC was still calling to collect and sending me bills after talking with her). The last HSBC agent I talked to told me that they had received MF’s dispute notice sent by April and were putting in their own.
I never heard back about the dispute resolution. Instead HSBC flagged my account as delinquent and sent it to a collection agency. I gave up trying to deal with them and MF, but I did recently email the management of MF-who I have not heard back from in several days.
I’m really not sure how to deal with all this. I’ve had a link to householdwatch.com put up on the front page of my business myspace and have told a lot of people to read your site and avoid HSBC. Thanks for all your efforts and hope to hear from you.”
