RK in Illinois tells us: “I was employed from 1996 to 2006 at Household International and then HSBC. My service was divided evenly between Household Finance Inc. and Retail Services. While at Retail Services I worked in the Customer Service Correspondence Unit. My duties included document analysis, sorting, and distribution. Much of the correspondence was sent by customers who were attempting to resolve disputes regarding incorrect balances, wrongly charged late fees, and merchandise issues. But there was also a fair amount of correspondence from the Better Business Bureau, and attorneys who represented customers. I found it rather alarming that many of the issues raised were not addressed, thus causing numerous follow-up letters. I brought this to attention of management, as I was supposed to. In April, 2006, I was dismissed without warning and told to leave immediately. Obviously, account holders are not the only people who have issues with HSBC. One might wonder what they mean by “Positive Workplace Environment” as it relates to their employees.”
