JT in New York said: “I have suddenly, after having this credit card for 2 years, been charged an annual fee. I have gone through at least 10 back and forth emails with the so called customer service dept and I have stated I never agreed to this.
Then I was told I agreed when I applied for the card. When I told them I never applied for it and the card was sent to me when I took out a personal loan they had no comment. I have asked for proof that I agreed to an annual fee, no reply to that specific question.
Finally after 10 emails I’m told the annual fee was waved in 2007 as a courtesy. No comment as to why no fee was charged last year.
I can’t get anywhere with HSBC, and when I try to call I can’t ever get anyone I can understand, they all seem to have a very heavy accent.
If this is not a dishonest thing to do then why can’t HSBC send proof I agreed to an annual fee? I know I wouldn’t knowingly agree to it. I don’t know where to go from here, I had to pay it or it would have affected my credit. I’m VERY FRUSTRATED!”
