BP in Washington said: “This is a GIGANTIC complaint about HSBC. Their late payment scam has cost me my life’s work in less than 6 months. They’ve made my 840 credit score go to 000!. In july I set up what I thought were auto monthly pmts. The 1st of sept. I noticed no pmt came out so I called and she said you have to set up each month separately (a very confusing and time consuming process on their web site) so I immediately told her about it and asked how much to clear it all up which I then did plus I added some extra to avoid any further problems.

I received monthly emails about statement ready to view but NOTHING ELSE untill I started getting strange calls in Jan. I thought they were solisitations because there wasn’t any message so finally I answerd one call and they said my acct was going into collections I was shocked!! they said there were late fees on my acct. and I owed $660. I got very sick & then asked how could this be?

They said it was of the late charge back in aug. I said I paid that and extra they said I didn’t pay enough. I was told $440. more would put the acct.up to date. I said why so much? you can see I’ve never missed a pmt except the 2 week late one the second month and I paid everything and was told it was fine I even added extra to the pymts.

HSBC said they only knew that it began in aug when there was a late fee. I have been very ill but try to do my best. So to save my credit I paid them $440 on the first of feb. Less than a month later the calls started incessantly I returned their calls to my horror they said I now owed OVER $880 MORE, just for the month of March.

My son and I have tried to get them to redo the contract or find any way to resolve this, they said there was a breach of the contract and they wouldn’t do anything and I just needed to pay the $880. a month or it would go into collections and they would reposess the items. We have been physically distraught and I have been financially devestated over this. All my life I have paid my bills and worked hard to have an excellant credit rating and they have destroyed me without a blink. HOW MANY ARE THEY DOING THIS TO?”
