MC in Massachusetts said: “I got caught in the rush payment scam — paid my account 4 days early with enough leftover for the rush fee. Turns out HSBC Finance billed it on the next bill, which didn’t have anything due for 8 months… I didn’t pay attention and then found out that HSBC had declared the entire balance in default, notified credit agencies and started calling. I called then and “straightened it out”. Two months later, same thing. Three months later… Their collections department had zero record of anything except for their record of nasty calls.”
