Sales Assistants Unappreciated: Everyone was given notice on March 2nd the company would be closing all Beneficial/HFC branches. The AE’s were let go from work that same day, but were going to remain on the payroll until April 2. The Branch managers and sales assistants were told they need to remain working in the branch. Everyone will get a severance pay (even those who just started on their first day).

Sales Assistants (mostly female) and branch managers will be working in March and April. We won’t get a free month of being on the payroll as the AE’s did. Managers and Sales Assistants will received a bonus (the bonus for sales assistants will be half of the normal bonus) for March and they will earn vaction time for March. The managers will get a bonus for April and earn vacation, but they are not giving the sales assistants a bonus for April or earned vacation time.

They said you have to work more than half a month to earn vaction so they are letting the Sales Assistants (mostly female) go…just at the half way point. The severance package is a pretty decent severance package, but it seems unfair that AE’s get a free month of payroll and only the managers will get a bonus and vacation for April. The sales assistants are being taken advantage of by doing the dirty work of closing the branch, but receiving the least of everyone. Sales Assistants are the lowest paid and will be doing most of the work.

Some managers help, but many expect the sales assistant to do all the work while they’re on the phone all day making personal calls and coming and going as they please. Managers don’t care….some of those guys will be leaving with 4 months severance pay. Sales Assistants are on the bottom of the totem pole and that’s how they will be treated until the very end and they are the ones who will be doing most of the packing and cleaning up.
