HSBC customers often ask difficult questions - but questions demand answers. Specifically, we want to know the number of days in the HSBC billing cycle. For over ten years we have had questions about timely application of payments. Something is wrong at HSBC credit card operations. Here is an example:
Under the Periodic Finance Charge Summary days in billing cycle is 30 days but speaking with your representative on 9/22/2009 he said the billing date is 24 days. Which is it?
I received my August/2009 bill stating “To avoid an overlimit fee on your New Balance, you must pay the current Payment balance” which at that time was $20.64.
Orchard Bank then received and credited to my account on 7/29/2009 a payment of $20.64 from my Wachovia Banking account on 7/30/2009. With this payment a balance of 273.33 was left.
Then payments of $35.00 were made leaving a balance of $238.33. The only charge that was made was $36.48.
Add this to $238.33 there is a balance of $274.81.
There should be no over the limit of late fee added. I made a payment on 9/10/2009 not on 9/14/2009 as you dated.
My confirmation number is (redacted).
I now see on the confirmation email where you (HSBC) INTENTIONALLY AND UNETHICALLY stated that I paid you on 9/14/2009. This is a breach of trust under the duties of a bank and THIS IS ILLEGAL!
This issue is a certified watchdog issue. Now that regulators are awake and actually empowered to do something we ask for regulatory scrutiny. This report is filed in our ‘Stop Abuse 2009′ category, but 2009 is rapidly ending.
