In a follow-up to the murder suicide at HSBC in Sioux Falls South Dakota, the suspect received an added stress the day before the shootings. Sean Kooistra with the Sioux Falls Police Department says, “we do know that on Monday the 22nd that she filed for divorce and Mr. Tassler was served the divorce papers the following day on Tuesday the 23rd.”
It is no excuse for what happened. The parents had two children. Surveillance cameras at HSBC haven’t been any help to the police in this investigation up to this point.
For some people Christmas is just another day, but being served with divorce papers on Christmas Eve is not a good thing. Divorce is always stressful, but mental health counselors say amicable divorces are best when children are involved. If parents recognize the need for parental guidance and support, even if the parents no longer live together, it can ease the stress of the divorce for the children.
Police say 38 year old Julie Tassler was shot four times on Wednesday night. The shooter, her husband Steven Tassler, then turned the gun on himself. Police say they don’t know what specifically led to the shooting, but we do know Julie Tassler filed for divorce on Monday and her husband was served with the papers on Tuesday. Christmas was on Thursday.
