Does HSBC know where you use your credit card? The answer is yes, and HSBC might own the credit card terminal. Where you use your card is now a factor, if you never used it there before. Bloomberg said this:

“Issuers developed new models to calculate the fees, interest rates and rules they needed to cover the bad debts of those who don’t keep up, says David Robertson, publisher of the Nilson Report, a Carpinteria, California-based industry newsletter. For example, if a customer starts charging groceries on a credit card when he hasn’t before, he may be flagged for having financial difficulties, and the terms on the card may change, Robertson says.”
