HSBC tumbled 13.5 percent on Friday October 24 as investors focused on the bank’s exposure to the American mortgage market and the impact that rising corporate defaults could have on their credit derivative exposure. Exposure? In reality HSBC was, and is, heavily involved with American subprime, thanks to Household International and HSBC Finance (HSBC Consumer Credit).

HSBC does not seem happy in the United States nor in the United Kingdom. Financial markets and customer debt are under pressure, while repossessions and foreclosures are at an all-time high. HSBC once bragged of making profits in emerging markets. Perhaps that will change as well. ‘Amid signs of trouble in emerging economies like Argentina and South Korea, there is growing concern that HSBC will take a hit,’ said Patrick Shum, strategist with Karl Thomson Securities in Hong Kong.
I was fired recently for completely bogus reasons. I went to see an attorney that has agreed to file suit with HSBC for me on contingency. This will be a gender discrimination suit and/or possible class action suit. If you, or anyone you know, either past employee or current employee, was terminated, passed up on promotions, left out of “boys club only” outings, punished on your review for being on FMLA while you had your child or other reasons. Heard we are moving to 2 regions in the US (we are at 3 now) which means a TOP LEVEL manager is out.
In California, I heard we are moving to either 5 or 6 districts which means 1 or 2 DSM’s are out of a job. We currently have 7 but were at a staggering 18 only a year and half ago. California as a state is one division now (includes one office in Hawaii) and looking to include both Arizona and Nevada as of 1/09 since so many offices will be shutting down in California.
Same thing happened to me this week. 10 year employee with 8 years managing. I reported a problem AE that was stealing from company. They suspended him last Tuesday and fired him on Friday. On Wednesday they suspended me for further “investigation” and ultimately terminated me on Monday due to alleged insurance violation that I had already been cleared of back in June 2008. In my 10 years I was never on even a warning for any wrong doing or a corrective action of ANY kind. I spoke with a QAC in another part of county and it was stated that NEVER had he seen anyone fired for this kind of allegation. I’ve always been the company girl — and this is how it ends. These people are nuts.
